A reflection of a suburban landscape. Painted on a melamine sheet and measures 51x66cm. A typical scene from any town or city, almost mundane but captured in bright sunshine casting dramatic shadows across the street and into front gardens.  The energetic brush strokes in the foliage compliment the shadows cast in broad soft blue tones giving the picture both drama and to some extent seclusion. The depiction of light and shade is used as starting point that has evolved into a study of shape and form but never straying  from the narrative of the subject matter.  Always developing the everyday with expressive brush work and intuitive colour combinations the work is another example of John’s captivating artwork.
