This artwork captures John’s love of the game of cricket. The focused composition captures the essence of playing cricket, a sport where in many respects, one faces the opposition alone, with no one else to rely on. The artist skillfully conveys the intensity of the experience, equating it to a sense of confinement, as if being in a cage or tunnel. The concentration required in the game becomes palpable through the expressive strokes and dynamic use of colour. “Untitled” invites viewers to contemplate the solitary nature of competition and the focused mindset required when confronting challenges head-on.
