At the centre of this painting sits the substation: a small, red-brick building partially obscured by leaves and shadows. John has painted a modest structure compared to the overwhelming natural growth around it. In front of it, a blue-green wire fence stretches horizontally across the painting, punctuated by warning signs that introduce a sharp note of human caution and control. The fence is both a barrier and a visual anchor, separating the viewer from the structure while emphasising its isolation.
My art is a reflection of our responsibility to the planet
